  • Condition: This original, restored, 1960 Italian 4 - Fogli movie poster exhibits dark, rich colors with fantastic detail of the images on a pristine-like background. The several, minor flaws that exist are unobtrusive to the appearance of the poster. The prior Fold lines are barely visible but only under bright light and very close inspection. There is a faint blackish rub-off (smudge) at the top on the right in and around the "L" in "MELCHIOR". There is a minor mark on the bottom left above the word "VIA". There are 2 reddish marks at the top to the left to the left of "LES". There are very faint small rob-offs in the vanilla colored border. The 2-piece section on the left side border is a tad off but the image of the 2 sections is spot on (i.e. a production flaw). And a little, very faint minor blackish rub-off in the Yellow Title. There are no pin holes, no tape or tape residue, and no tears. There is no soiling and no loss of paper or color. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the original movie poster
    THE ANGRY RED PLANET.
    It is an Italian 4 - Fogli original movie poster, distributed by
    Globe Films International
    in 1960 to promote the movie.  The original U.S release of the movie and the U.S. version of the original movie poster were released on November 23, 1959.  This poster is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Gerald Mohr, Naura Hayden, Les Tremayne,
    Jack Kruschen, Paul Hahn, and J. Edward McKinley.
    THE ANGRY RED PLANET was directed by Ib Melchior.  This original movie poster displays incredible
    Sandro Symeoni artwork.
    This restored and linen backed original movie poster measures 55" x 77.50".  With linen backing, it measures approximately 1/2" extra all the way around the poster's border.
    Prior to restoration, this original movie poster was Folded and in two sections.  Most original movie posters dating pre-1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or defect.
    The movie poster is graded C8.5, Very Fine to Near Mint.
    Original movie posters are graded, from the best on down, as follows:  C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine or Excellent), C7 (Fine to Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.   It is extremely rare to find a C10 (Mint) original movie poster pre 1985.  The current industry standard - that I follow - is that any original movie poster that has been restored, such as this one, cannot be graded higher than C8.5 Very Fine to Near Mint.
    Prior to restoration, the poster was graded C8, Very Fine.  Restoration only included touchup to the Fold lines.  The two sections were permanently put together once the poster was linen backed.

    now displays as pristine.  As described above, the few, minor post-restoration flaws occur mainly along the border of the poster, leaving the main image spectacular.

    for sale, we believe that it would be difficult to find one that has been restored and linen backed, resulting in a Fold-free basically pristine movie poster that will stand the test of time due to its linen backing.
    We believe this Italian version of THE ANGRT RED PLANET to be very rare.
    This original movie poster also benefits from its oversized image at 55" x 77.50", compared to a U.S. One Sheet measuring only 27" x 41".
    And my photos of the poste do not give it justice, for I believe I let the flash get the better of me, which kind of washed out the deep, dark colors on the first 8 photos or so.  The last few I tried to tone down the flash/lighting.  It is truly an eye-catching, excellent sci-fi image.  In addition, most original movie posters of the 50s and 60s that represent the fabulous sci-fi and horror movies of that time, like
